The Minnesota Renaissance Festival: A Journey Back in Time

Hazzah! It is time for the Minnesota Renaissance Festival, one of the largest and most celebrated Renaissance fairs in the United States. The festival offers visitors an enchanting journey back to the 16th century. This annual event, which takes place in Shakopee, Minnesota. Typically, it runs from late August through early October, drawing crowds eager to experience the magic, history, and revelry of the renaissance era.

This year, your Renaissance adventure begins on the weekends of August 22nd through October 4th, 2026. In addition, the festival will be open on Labor Day (September 7th) and Festival Friday (October 2nd). The gates open at 9 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. daily, rain or shine, so plan accordingly for this one-of-a-kind experience!

Parking Notice: On-site parking requires a date-specific parking pass. Passes cost $15 when purchased in advance or $30 for same-day purchase, if parking remains available. The festival also offers Park & Ride service for $6 per adult; children 5 and under ride free. Parking passes should be purchased separately from admission tickets.

First held in 1971, the Minnesota Renaissance Festival has grown from a small gathering to a grand event. Today, it attracts more than 300,000 visitors each year. The festival spans seven weekends, with each having a unique theme, such as 'Shamrocks & Shenanigans', 'Buccaneer Beer Bash', and 'Oktoberfest'.
